Sometimes the weather ends up giving you something even better than a perfectly sunny wedding day. That was definitely the case for Maddy and Sebastian's wedding at Bridges Golf Course in Manitoba.

After the rain cleared away, the clouds opened up and the sky put on an incredible show. The combination of dramatic clouds, beautiful evening light, and an amazing sunset created some absolutely stunning opportunities for wedding photos.

It was one of those evenings where you couldn't have asked for a better backdrop.

A Beautiful Wedding at Bridges Golf Course

Bridges Golf Course is a fantastic setting for a Manitoba wedding. With its open landscapes, beautiful grounds, and plenty of natural scenery, there are so many opportunities for wedding photography.

For Maddy and Sebastian, the course provided a wonderful setting to celebrate their wedding day.

One of the things we love about photographing weddings at golf courses is having access to wide-open spaces and beautiful views. They're especially great when the evening light starts to change and the sun gets lower in the sky.

And for this wedding, the sky definitely delivered.

When the Rain Clears, the Magic Happens

Rain on a wedding day isn't always what couples hope for, but it can create some pretty incredible photography conditions once it passes.

As the rain cleared during Maddy and Sebastian's wedding, the clouds began to break apart, allowing beautiful evening light to shine through.

The result was an amazing sky filled with colour, texture, and dramatic clouds.

From a photographer's perspective, these are the moments you get excited about. The contrast between the darker clouds and the warm sunset light created an incredible backdrop for portraits.

It's also a great reminder that you don't need perfect weather to get beautiful wedding photos. Sometimes a little unpredictable Manitoba weather gives you something truly special.

Incredible Sunset Wedding Photos

As the evening continued, we had the opportunity to take advantage of the stunning sunset at Bridges Golf Course.

The open landscape allowed us to capture Maddy and Sebastian against the beautiful sky, with the changing colours and clouds adding so much character to the images.

Sunset portraits are always one of our favourite parts of a wedding day, but this one was particularly memorable.

There was something about the light breaking through after the rain that made the whole scene stand out.

These are the kinds of moments that make wedding photography so much fun. You can plan your locations and timeline, but sometimes nature gives you something you could never have planned.

Engagement sessions are always a great opportunity to get outside, explore somewhere beautiful, and capture some relaxed photos before the wedding day. Katelyn and Alex chose Birds Hill Provincial Park, just outside Winnipeg, for their engagement photos, and they brought along a pretty special guest: their beautiful golden retriever, Apollo!

Between the natural scenery, a great couple, and an adorable four-legged companion, we had everything we needed for a fun engagement session.

Engagement Photos at Birds Hill Provincial Park

Birds Hill Park is easily one of our favourite locations for engagement photography near Winnipeg. With its beautiful wooded areas, open fields, winding trails, and natural surroundings, there's so much variety to work with.

For Katelyn and Alex's session, the park provided a beautiful backdrop for their engagement portraits. One of the things we love about photographing couples here is how easy it is to create a mix of images without needing to travel far between locations.

Whether it's the soft light filtering through the trees or the wide-open natural spaces, Birds Hill Park offers plenty of opportunities for beautiful, relaxed engagement photos.

Apollo Steals a Little of the Spotlight

Of course, we can't talk about this engagement session without mentioning Apollo!

Katelyn and Alex brought their beautiful golden retriever along for some of their photos, and we're always happy when couples decide to include their dogs in an engagement session.

Pets are such a big part of the family, so it makes perfect sense to have them included in these memories.

Having Apollo there also added a little extra personality to the session. Engagement photos don't always have to be perfectly posed, and including a dog is a great way to capture some fun, natural moments along the way.

Plus, it's pretty hard to go wrong with a golden retriever in your engagement photos!

Keeping Engagement Photos Relaxed and Natural

One of the biggest things we focus on during engagement sessions at COJO Photo is making the experience feel comfortable and natural.

You don't need to know how to pose or have any experience in front of a camera. We'll provide a little direction when needed, but the goal is always to capture photos that feel like you.

For Katelyn and Alex, spending time together outdoors at Birds Hill Park was a great setting for that approach.

A beautiful location, some time to explore, and Apollo joining in for a few photos made for a wonderful engagement session.

Some wedding days have a little extra meaning behind the locations, and Chelsea and Mark's Winnipeg wedding was a perfect example. From a first look on the rooftop of the building where their story first began to celebrating at the beautiful Manitoba Club, their day brought together personal touches, timeless elegance, and some of Winnipeg's most recognizable downtown scenery.

With the help of Tricia Bachewich Events, Chelsea and Mark's wedding came together beautifully, creating a wonderful day for everyone involved.

A Rooftop First Look Where It All Began

One of our favourite moments from Chelsea and Mark's wedding happened before the ceremony even began.

Rather than choosing a traditional first look location, they decided to return to a place that held a special connection to their relationship: the rooftop of the building where they both lived and first met.

It's not every day that we get to photograph a first look somewhere with that much personal history.

With the Winnipeg skyline surrounding them, Chelsea and Mark shared a private moment together before heading into the excitement of their wedding celebrations. The rooftop provided an incredible setting for photos, but it was the story behind the location that made it especially memorable.

Wedding Photos in Winnipeg's Exchange District

After their first look, we headed into Winnipeg's historic Exchange District for wedding portraits.

The Exchange District is easily one of our favourite areas in Winnipeg for wedding photography. Between the historic brick buildings, beautiful architecture, interesting textures, and character-filled streets, there's no shortage of great places to stop for photos.

For Chelsea and Mark, the downtown setting was a perfect complement to the elegant style of their wedding.

We explored different spots throughout the Exchange District, using the architecture and urban surroundings to create a variety of portraits. One of the things we love about photographing weddings in this part of Winnipeg is how much variety you can find within just a few blocks.

From classic architectural backdrops to more relaxed moments walking through the streets, the Exchange District always delivers.

There's something special about a wedding held at home, surrounded by family, friends, and the places that mean the most to you. For Mackenzie and Corbin, their beautiful country property near Warren, Manitoba, was the perfect setting to celebrate their wedding day.

With gorgeous summer weather, a relaxed country atmosphere, and an incredible group of family and friends, their wedding was filled with excitement, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments.

A Private First Look

Before the ceremony, Mackenzie and Corbin shared a private first look together.

Taking a little time away from the excitement of the day gave them a chance to see each other before officially tying the knot. It's always a special part of a wedding day to photograph, especially when couples choose to share that moment somewhere meaningful to them.

With their own property providing the backdrop, it was a wonderful way to begin the celebrations.

A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony Under the Trees

One of the standout features of Mackenzie and Corbin's wedding was their ceremony location.

Tucked away in a clearing on their property, a giant tree provided a stunning natural backdrop as they exchanged their vows. The setting perfectly captured the rustic country feel of their wedding, without needing an elaborate venue or decorations to make it special.

The beautiful summer weather made the outdoor ceremony even better, allowing everyone to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while celebrating Mackenzie and Corbin.

One of the best parts about photographing a wedding on a private property is having the opportunity to explore locations that are completely unique to the couple.

For Mackenzie and Corbin's wedding portraits, we made our way around different areas of their property, taking advantage of the natural scenery and country surroundings.

From the beautiful outdoor spaces to the rustic character of the property itself, there was no shortage of great locations for photos.

Having everything in one place also meant we could keep things relaxed and enjoy the photography without having to travel between multiple locations.

A Fun-Filled Country Wedding Celebration

Above everything else, Mackenzie and Corbin's wedding was just a really fun day.

There was a great energy throughout the celebration, with everyone enjoying the summer weather, the country setting, and the opportunity to celebrate together.

Hosting both the ceremony and reception on their property gave the entire wedding a comfortable, personal atmosphere. It felt like the perfect combination of a backyard celebration and a beautiful rustic country wedding.

And that's what made the day so enjoyable to photograph. Everyone was there to have a great time and celebrate Mackenzie and Corbin.

I got to meet Rachel and Shayne a couple of years ago at a different wedding, and was fortunate to be their photographer for their own wedding!

These two celebrated their wedding day at one of the most beautiful venues! The White Poplar, located just outside of Winnipeg.

It was a windy and pretty smoky day, but it was also so very perfect! Everything was beautiful, and so well thought of.
